  • Creature Corner

    Published 12/12/16, by Clare Elson

Year 2 completed their learning in Science this term by visiting Creature Corner. They were investigating the different habitats. In addition, they explored what micro habitats were present. Children were excited to find nests, rotten apples, bark and dried leaves that were all homes to living creatures. The children were also delighted to see the habitats they made in Year 1 still being used by living things.

Year 2 have had a wonderful summer term. After working exceptionally hard for their special work, they have done very well in assessments. The adults are all very proud of them. They have also shown they are mature and ready to start Year 3 and KS2. All the children have been positive about learning and eager to start new challenges. We have started the week with lots of fun activities including sports morning and a picnic with Year 1. We have also shared our memories of Year 2. Mrs Elson, Mrs Butcher and Mrs Ainsworth will miss teaching Year 2 but look forward to their watching their progress in Year 3. Thank you for all the wonderful support we have received from parents over the year and it is very much appreciated. Have a lovely safe summer holiday.

  • 'Off The Page' visits Year 2

    Published 27/06/16, by Clare Elson

Year 2 had the exciting chance to travel back in time to 1666 to find out about the Great Fire of London. We worked in the role of apprentices. Some were Bakers, leather workers, candle makers and Doctors. In the afternoon, we were then archeologists and found items from 1666 by digging in the ground. We had to identify who owned these items, how they lived and what had happened to them. This was a very exciting day where we learnt a lot about the past. Many thanks to all the parents for the wonderful costumes and their help.
