    Published 25/02/23, by Andy Mari

Year 1 have had a great start to their new topic Burps, Bottoms and Body Parts. In PHSE we have begun exploring how to keep our bodies and minds healthy by sleeping, eating and exercising regularly. Our history lessons this term will be about the scientist Alexander Fleming, so first we began exploring the dangers of germs and how far these can travel if you don't wash your hands! In Literacy we have started our new story Pinocchio, we were lucky enough to receive a phone call from him so we could ask 'why he wanted to be a real boy?' We drew round ourselves and wrote down all his answers and added some of our own reasons as well. At Roebuck Academy we are Writers!

    Published 12/02/23, by Andy Mari

This week we have been very busy in year 1.

We have created alien puppets by designing, making templates and using different joining methods. We decided that our success criteria would be to make it strong, the correct size, safe for children and to make it look like an alien.

We have also discussed how to be safe using computers and devices as part of ESafety day.

We are preparing for our scrap book day and have looked at a number of wonderful texts- we have identified favourites!

We have also started to create skeleton pictures ready for our new topic after half term.

In maths we are exploring addition and subtraction facts in numbers up to 20 and have started to learn about regrouping.
