  • Walk in the woods

    Published 29/09/23, by Andy Mari

Last week we were very lucky to be visited by Eve's Mum, who spoke to us all about the Jewish holidays. She very kindly baked us some amazing sweet cake to try to help welcome in a 'sweet new year'.

This week Year 1 went for a 'Walk to the Woods' as part of our Literacy unit. We had such an exciting morning! We searched for different types of minibeasts and tried to describe how they look and how they move. Then we went on a colour hunt and tried to find as many different items as we could. We found brown soil, black birds, orange leaves and many more! To finish off our fun morning, we enjoyed some scrumptious marshmallows by the fire!

  • Camping out in Year 1

    Published 14/09/23, by Andy Mari

What a fantastic start Year 1 have had to our Camping Out topic. Last week local Brownie and Scouts leaders, Wren and Bluebell came to our school to teach us all about camping. First, we used our magnifying glasses to help them on a scavenger hunt through Creature Corner.  We found lots of interesting leaves, creatures and flowers. We used our findings to create leaf rubbings and hedgehogs to display in our classroom.  Later they taught us how to set up a tent, so we could stay warm and dry while. Unfortunately, the weather was too hot for a real campfire so instead we enjoyed ice pops as Mr Kalaiarasu taught us some campfire-songs. At Roebuck we are Campers!
