Year 5's Unusual Visitors
As part of topic work about rainforests, Zoo Lab came to Roebuck ealier this month.
They brought some creatures which live on the forest floor which we were allowed to touch or hold if we were brave enough. We learnt that cockroaches can survive almost anything, including being frozen in an ice age or being cooked in a microwave oven! Millie was proud of herself because she dared hold it. One person in particular was extremely relieved that the Chilean Rose Tarantula stayed inside its box (with the lid on). The Amazon stick insect looked exactly like a twig. The giant millipede's legs felt like stiff bristles and they rippled amazingly as it walked across the floor. We learnt many fascinating facts about life on the forest floor.
