A boys and girls team represented Roebuck Academy at the Stevenage Sporting Futures Table tennis competition, which was hosted at Barnwell School. Both teams went into their matches full of energy and enthusiasm and participated at a very high standard. The boys played teams from Giles, Peartree, St Ippolyts and Ashtree and came third in their pool with a win, draw and two losses, whilst the girls beat Ashtree, St Ippolyts, Peartree and lost to Giles.  The girls qualified for the third and fourth play off with a possible medal hope. Two of the girls lost and two won their games and the bronze medal was decided by points scored, with Bedwell scoring 3 points more over the 4 games. Despite losing out on a possibility of a medal the girls, and boys teams competed with wonderful attitudes and were a credit to the school and received the Value award for determination. • School parliament visit

    Published 18/10/17

On Monday morning, Vanessa and Josh from year 5 had a very important meeting to attend to. It was the first school parliament's meeting at the council offices.

Although they were a bit nervous to start off with, they were enthralled as they sat in the office chambers and spoke into the microphones as they do in real council meetings.

We should be very proud of them as they collaborated with other schools in Stevenage and Vanessa's idea of an ECO day has been incorporated into this year’s agenda of events.

  • Joined by the Police- Dream Catcher assembly

    Published 17/10/17

On Thursday, we were lucky enough to be joined by Ron, a Community Support Officer, and Danny, a Police Officer from Stevenage. We listened carefully as we discovered that writing and reading skills are very important if we have a desire to be a Police Officer as they have to write lots of reports for the magistrates! Many of us were eager to ask questions and find out more about the life of a Police Officer and what kind of arrests they make. Thank you very much to Ron and Danny for giving up their time.

Dream Catcher assemblies are definitely becoming very popular here at Roebuck with one child saying, "I absolutely love Dream Catcher assemblies! I can't wait until the next one!"

  • Nicky Footer- Dream Catcher assembly

    Published 17/10/17

On the 5th October, children in Years 2 to 6 were very excited to be part of our very first Dream Catcher assembly at Roebuck. We were joined by Nicky Footer who is head of North Herts Music School. Nicky inspired us all with her stories about her childhood and the journey she went on to become a music teacher. We listened in awe as she played a range of musical instruments for us however the bassoon was by far the most popular! We are very grateful to Nicky for coming in and we will make sure we remember her advice of never giving up and always believing in our abilities.
