At Roebuck Academy we take our statutory safeguarding duty seriously. We are committed to safeguarding children. We expect all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment and maintain a vigilant and safe culture.  Everyone has a responsibility to act, without delay, to protect children by reporting anything that might suggest a child is being abused or neglected. It is our willingness to work safely and challenge inappropriate behaviours that underpins this commitment. The school seeks to work in partnership with families and other agencies to improve the outcomes for children who are vulnerable or in need. 

At Roebuck Academy we strongly believe that:

‘1. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children has an important role to play.

2. School and college staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early, provide help for children, promote children’s welfare and prevent concerns from escalating. It is important all staff (including those who do not work directly with children) recognise the important role they play in protecting children.’ (Keeping Children Safe in Education – DfE, 2025)

We are committed to ensuring the safety of all our children. Please see below our Child Protection policy which explains the procedures that the staff must follow in order to protect our children. This policy follows statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children and safer recruitment as set out in Keeping children safe in education 2025.

Staff at Roebuck have a responsibility to safeguard children. If you ever have a concern about a child or a member of staff then please contact one of our designated safeguarding leads as detailed above. 

Safeguarding posters can be located around the school as well as being placed prominently on all classroom doors.

Worried or concerned about a child or young person?

If you are worried that a child has suffered harm, neglect or abuse or, you are worried that a child may be at risk if suffering harm should contact CHILDREN'S SERVICES on 0300 123 4042. If you think a child is in immediate danger call for police assistance. Do not wait or try to pass onto someone else. Always RECOGNISE, RESPOND and REFER.
