Safeguarding Our Pupils
KEEPING OUR CHILDREN SAFE IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY!
At Roebuck Academy we take our statutory safeguarding duty seriously. We are committed to safeguarding children. We expect all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment and maintain a vigilant and safe culture. Everyone has a responsibility to act, without delay, to protect children by reporting anything that might suggest a child is being abused or neglected. It is our willingness to work safely and challenge inappropriate behaviours that underpins this commitment. The school seeks to work in partnership with families and other agencies to improve the outcomes for children who are vulnerable or in need.
At Roebuck Academy we strongly believe that:
‘1. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children has an important role to play.
2. School and college staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early, provide help for children, promote children’s welfare and prevent concerns from escalating. It is important all staff (including those who do not work directly with children) recognise the important role they play in protecting children.’ (Keeping Children Safe in Education – DfE, 2025)
We are committed to ensuring the safety of all our children. Please see below our Child Protection policy which explains the procedures that the staff must follow in order to protect our children. This policy follows statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children and safer recruitment as set out in Keeping children safe in education 2025.
The school's Designated Safeguarding Leads are:
Mr Andy Mari (Safeguarding Lead and Headteacher)
Mrs Krista Toal (Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Headteacher)
Mrs Carla Johnson (Deputy Safeguarding Lead and Pastoral Leader)
Mrs Clare Elson (Deputy Safeguarding Lead and Inclusion Leader)
Mrs Leanne Bell (Deputy Safeguarding Lead and Extended Provision Manager)
