    A very busy morning for Year 6. Week 5 started off SATs week, we were incredibly proud of all the pupils, who approached the task with a positive attitude! We especially enjoyed the mingle with your mentor mornings, especially the Thursday where we celebrated the end of SATs with a cooked breakfast. After SATS we also revealed our end of year performance, Pantastic! We look forward to finding out our parts and rehearsing for the end of year show. We also enjoyed a pizza party on Friday! For the last week we have been taking on bike ability courses, learning about road safety and rules of the road. In DT we have been making playground structures, developing out cutting skills!

    Year 6 have worked incredibly hard this week preparing for our upcoming SATs. We have been busy revising and working in our groups to build on prior knowledge. In Science, we have been learning about electricity, creating our own circuits and planning our own investigations. In PSHE, we have been learning about money and how to keep it safe. We have been trying to find some time to wind down too, spending time in the library enjoying books and learning how to play cricket!

    A busy first two weeks back for year 6. We have been busy preparing for our SATs tests and working really hard to revise different areas in Maths, reading and SPAG. We were visited by the NSPCC, who spoke to us about the rights of a child, we discussed different scenarios and learnt about how to keep ourselves safe. In literacy, we have been using Matilda as a focus text, writing setting and character descriptions. For Earth day we learnt about how to be more sustainable, creating our own superheroes and pledges for a healthier Earth. We have also been developing our cricket skills in PE!

    A brilliant few weeks for year 6. Last week we all tried really hard in our mock SATS, thank you to all the staff who attended mingle with your mentor!  In Science we have been learning all about our circulation system. We have been exploring the different parts of the human heart and even took part in a dissection of lamb heart. In Literacy we have started a new text, Thornhill, which used incredible illustrations and diary entries to narrate its story. In DT we have been using computer programme Tinkercad to create 3D playgrounds and prototypes of our structures.

    A great first few weeks back for year 6. We have enjoyed learning about the life of local legend Lewis Hamilton. We have been writing a biography about his life. In Science we have been learning about our circulation system, we created our own blood bags and learned about the different components that make up our blood. We celebrated World book day, it was lovely to have the opportunity to dress  up as our favourite characters, share stories with other year groups and take part in the footy and books quiz. In Maths we have been exploring volume, using practical resources to help us with our understanding. In History, we have been using a local census to learn about the past of our local area. We have explored a variety of sources and understand how they can help us to find out about the past. We also had a great time learning our songs for the KS2 music festival!

    A fun-filled two weeks for year 6. We have been busy writing our narratives, creating our own story boards and writing with a purpose to entertain. We enjoyed storytelling week and loved welcoming our visitor, who helped us create a rap. In writing we have also been creating ode poetry. We got to taste chocolate cake as part of our experience day! In geography, we have been using maps to explore different energy sources used in specific areas and in Maths we have been using practical resources to support our understanding of algebra!

    A busy few weeks for Year 6! We have continued to work hard on Maths, developing our understanding of percentage and ratio. We have been using the CPA approach to understand this and we have tried to show our working in many ways! In Science, we conducted our own experiment to explore how shadows change. We collected data and presented it by using a line graph. In PE, we have been developing our hockey skills, learning how to control the ball and pass. In Art, we have developed our own photocollages using newspaper cut-outs and city scapes using pictures of everyday objects.

    A great two weeks back for Year 6! We have had a fabulous start back, including a martial arts workshop. We hosted our fantastic finish, where we showed off our waistcoats we made on our catwalk. We also used this opportunity to showcase some of our work from the last term. 

    We have also been exploring light and shadows in Science. We have used different resources to explore what shadows are and worked together to conduct an experiment around this! In reading comprehension, we read the poem 'The Fog' and used drama to explore what life would be like if we could not see.

    A great few weeks in Year 6! We have been exploring persuasive writing and used Great Thunberg's climate speech as inspiration! We are working towards creating our own piece of persuasive writing, using specific language features. In Maths we have been exploring decimal numbers, using a variety of concrete, pictorial and abstract sources to support our understanding. We have continued to learn about World War 2, which has included studying different historical sources. The Christmas festivities have begun, we enjoyed the pantomime and singing at St Peter's Church!

    Year 6 have had a very exciting two weeks. We were visited by Barclays Bank and had the opportunity to visit the Barclays van. We learnt about saving and investing our money. In history, we are loving learning about World War 2. We have been studying different sources to infer about what life was like, also learning about key events such as The Blitz and The Battle of Britain. This has helped us to write a recount in writing, based on what life was like during this time. In music, we have been producing our own 'hip hop beats' using Yustudio.

    A fantastic few weeks for Year 6. We took part in a rowing workshop and tackled some challenges. We learnt the basic skills of rowing, and it was great to see the progress made in such a short time. In Literacy, we completed a horror narrative and some of us even performed this during our 'Fright Night' event. We are also enjoying our new topic 'World War' and welcomed Martin Impey into school to talk to us about his graphic novel 'The Blitz'. We took part in Remembrance Day activities and created our own art based on poppies.

    Year 6 have had a fantastic few weeks. In Science we have been exploring  different living organisms. We created our own experiments, which allowed us to investigate how mould grows on bread. We have also been working together to create our own branching keys. In Literacy, we have been reading 'A Monster Calls' and we used role play to reenact nightmares. This inspired us to think about different feelings we have during our dreams and allowed us to generate exciting vocabulary. We are very excited to share our own horror narratives with our parents/carers on Fright Night!
