This week in Nursery to keep cool, we have been taken part in lots of water play. We have been paddling our feet, practising our pouring skills and have created an under the sea small world. We have also enjoyed exploring different coloured water and watching how the colours change when mixed together.
This week, the children were really excited to take part in football activities to celebrate the start of the World Cup. All the children came to school wearing football kits. We enjoyed showing each other their kits and talking about their favourite football teams. They learnt how to dribble the ball and pass the ball to each other. After that, the children played some fun games!
This week in Nursery, we have been reading the story 'Superworm'. We have been learning all about worms. One of our favourite facts is that worms do not have any eyes or ears!
We went down to creature corner and made a wormery using mud, sand, leaves and vegetable peelings. We then hunted for worms to add to our wormery. We have enjoyed observing how the worms move within the wormery.
This week in Nursery, we were very excited to find that we have caterpillars! We have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and have been reading the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.' We have noticed that the caterpillars have been growing bigger every day and look forward to observing how they change over time.
This week in Nursery we have been busy celebrating Earth day. We talked about what the Earth is and how we can look after and care for our planet.
We started the week reading Jasper’s Beanstalk and we planted our very own bean seeds.We then went on a walk to creature corner and used natural materials to create a giant collage of the Earth.
In Nursery we have been really excited to watch five eggs hatch into ducklings. The children watched the eggs closely and we were lucky enough to watch some of the ducklings hatch live at school!
The children have been busy looking after the ducklings and learning about the life cycle of a duck.
This week in Nursery, we have been reading the story 'Mr Wolf's Pancakes'. We talked about what pancake day is and why we celebrate it. Using the story, we then discussed what ingredients we would need to make our own pancakes. The children followed a simple recipe to make their own pancake and enjoyed tasting them. We discussed how to be safe whilst cooking and that only adults should fry the pancakes as the pan is hot.
This week in Nursery we have been learning about firefighters and their jobs. We discussed fire safety and how to keep ourselves safe around fire. We all walked down to creature corner and used wooden sticks to create a campfire in the fire pit. We had a snack of marshmallows and talked about what we could hear, see and smell whilst sitting around the fire. We were very proud of how safe and sensible the children were whilst there.
This week in Nursery we have been looking for signs of Winter all around us. We went on a welly walk and noticed that it was cold and icy. We looked at the trees and the plants and talked about that in the Winter there are no buds or flowers on any of the plants.
The children have been busy creating winter art and have enjoyed mark making in the ice and frost.
In Nursery we have been very busy preparing and learning about Christmas. This week we were very excited to find out that Father Christmas had left us a message. He asked us if we could write him a letter and send it to the North Pole. We discussed what a letter is and how our letter would need a stamp to be sent. We then walked to the local post box and posted our letters.
This week Stevenage Library came to visit Nursery. We got to meet Tala the library mascot and we shared some lovely stories and rhymes together.
The children were all given their own book start pack to bring home and keep.

This week in Nursery we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We talked about remembering and thanking people who were brave and helped to protect our country during the war. To help us remember we all worked together to create a poppy wreath using our hand prints.
