During Sports Week, the children have been full of energy and enthusiasm as they took part in a range of fun activities. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they tried new skills and worked together.
We are incredibly proud of all the children during Phonics Screening Week. They approached the test with a positive attitude and showed great resilience and determination throughout. The children demonstrated their phonics knowledge confidently, using their blending skills to read both real and alien words. It has been wonderful to see how much progress they have made this year in applying their phonics to reading unfamiliar words with increasing accuracy. Most importantly, the children tried their very best and showed real pride in their learning. Well done to everyone for their fantastic effort and achievements during this important week!
To finish off our exciting week, we had a Science Day all about “Yucky Worms”! The children became young scientists and carried out an investigation to find out what worms prefer. They explored different conditions and made careful observations, thinking about what worms like best. The children showed great curiosity and excitement throughout the experiment and enjoyed getting hands-on with their learning.
It has been a couple of fantastic weeks full of active learning, creativity and discovery. Well done Year 1!
