     We have had a super busy few weeks in year 4! We have been learning all about money and the value of it. We looked at different ways money can be saved and the importance of a budget. We had to work together to count our money and decide how we could save it. In science, we carried out a science investigation looking at which marital is best to filter our microplastics. And in between all of our learning, we managed to enjoy some downtime with friends sharing books.

     Wow! What a fantastic start to the summer term. We have been very busy taking part in lots of new learning opportunities. We have had a workshop about how to keep safe in and around water, especially now the weather is nicer and we maybe around larger bodies of water. We had a great afternoon, all together, on the field to celebrate earth day. We went on a leaf hunt and used keys to help us identify the different types of trees we have on the school field.

     Over the last couple of weeks, year 4 have been immersing themselves within their learning. In PSHE we have learnt about making sensible choices to keep ourselves safe. We used role play to act out different scenarios. In Geography, we made preparations for our fieldwork. We looked at human and physical features and predicted what we might encounter on our local walk.

     This week we have been extremely busy this week with lots of school events going on! These included World Book Day, author visits, Boxercise and music concerts. We had lots of fun all whilst being super busy learners! To celebrate world book day we carried out a football workshop and a scavenger hunt. We also buddied up with a different class to enjoy reading together.

    We have had a super busy few weeks. Year 4 have created their own papyrus scrolls, based on their Egyptian history and art learning. We also became embalmers and replicated the practice of embalming by using a tomato, fabric and salt ! 

    We have taken part in lots of different writing workshops all based on poetry and rap! We even wrote and performed our own rap!

    A very hands-on week for Year 4 as they stepped back in time to Ancient Egypt. Children fully embraced life as an Ancient Egyptian. Children took part in arts and crafts, role play, dance, plays and a feast! 

    This week we also started exploring play scripts so that the children can begin to write their own. They thoroughly enjoyed acting and performing the plays.

    To kick start 2026 off, Year four have been very busy taking part in different workshops. Firstly, we were visited by a material arts instructor who taught us different moves and even challenged some of us to chop a piece of wood, with our bare hands! Next, we were joined by Mr Moran who spoke to us all about the importance of eating well to support our well-being.

    Over the last few weeks, Year 4 have been very busy in Reading, Science and Geography, working collaboratively together. We have enjoyed using an atlas to locate where our food comes from and then calculating the food miles. We were very shocked to see how far our food had travelled !

    Over the last few weeks, year 4 have been very busy carrying out their DT project, making pavilions. Children used glue guns to piece their work together. 

    This week, we have celebrated Anti-Bullying week by wearing odd socks and carrying out some 'top secret mission' work to put a stop to bullying.

    This week, Year 4 have been getting stuck into their new Literacy topic. We followed a set of instructions to create a paper boat. We had to dig deep and find determination, but every child felt incredibly proud of their achievements after. We also used musical instruments to create a sound scape ready for writing about. We thought about vocabulary that went along with it our creation.

  • Welcome back Year 4

    What a very busy start we have had to Year 4! Over the last couple of weeks, we have been visited by James Mayhew, who captivated us with his live illustrations and story telling. From this we began to explore his books and generate lots of wonderful vocabulary. 

    We have kicked-started our new History topic – Anglo-Saxons and are very much looking forward to our workshop.
