The children have been busy creating winter art and have enjoyed mark making in the ice and frost.

We have been finding out all about caterpillars and what they need to survive. We have made a caterpillar cafe and filled it with leaves for them to eat. 

The children have been busy making caterpillar leaves using paint.

We went on a walk around the school to observe how the plants are growing and changing. We made a collage using these found natural materials. 

We have also been reading the story 'Jaspers Beanstalk'. We have been learning about the life cycle of a bean and what plants need to grow. We then planted our own bean seeds and can't wait to see what happens to them!

The ducklings arrived as five eggs and we were lucky enough to watch them hatch. We named them Daisy, Dave, Darren, Donald and Elson (born on Mrs Elson's birthday). 

We have been learning about the life cycle of a duck and it has great to see how they have grown and changed. 

The children were very excited to watch the ducks swim in a paddling pool for the very first time.

The ducks are now enjoying their time back on the farm. 

The children have enjoyed role playing nurses and doctors in our new doctors-surgery role play area and have been busy learning about their roles. 

This week, the children have created their own police badges and we have discussed how the police help us in the community. 

We used our senses to talk about what we could hear, see, smell and touch. The children were all very excited to find snails, slugs and worms living in creature corner.

We have been talking about Hinduism and how Diwali is celebrated. 

We took part in different activities, these included learning the story of Rama and Sita, making Diya lamps, drawing Mehndi hand patterns and we created colourful Rangoli patterns on the playground.

We have been painting self-portraits, making our families using natural resources, and we have been learning to recognise the letters in our names. 

In Nursery we are all special! 

This has been our first full week in Nursery, and we have been very busy exploring all of the areas. The children have been getting to know each other and making new friends. 

We put the eggs into an incubator, and we have been keeping a diary of how the eggs have changed. 

On Tuesday our first chick hatched out of an egg. We watched the chick become nice and fluffy and we were able to move it into a brooder box, so we were able to watch them more closely. 

As the week went on all ten eggs hatched! We now have 4 girls and 6 boys. 

We are very excited to see how they will change over the coming week. 

We all followed a recipe to make our own Gingerbread men and tested to see what happened to them when we put them into water.

The children predicted that they might fall apart when wet. 

We put the Gingerbread men in the water and as predicted they became all soggy, the water became murky and they fell apart.

Luckily all the children had made two Gingerbread men, so they still had one left to decorate and eat.
